The First Youth Organization of Bangladesh
The Background and Purposes:
The youth power, a force of undying spirit, has emerged through extensive participation of young people in the war of liberation, in 1971, fought under the unchallenged leadership of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, father of the nation and the architect of Bangladesh, also the greatest Bengali of all time.
With an aim of putting the youth power into the magnificent work of building the "just liberated Bangladesh", Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni, renowned student leader of sixties and one of the front ranking organizers of liberation war, at the behest of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, founded Bangladesh Awami Jubo League with inclusion of young freedom fighters on November 11, 1972 at Dhaka Engineers Institute Auditorium.
Bangladesh Awami Jubo League, the first youth organization of the country, started its journey on 11 November 1972 upholding the solemn promise to realize the dream of Bangabandhu, which he had cherished throughout his life, of building a golden Bengal.
Jubo League has become the largest youth organization of Bangladesh under the leadership of "Deshrotno" Sheikh Hasina through momentous struggle and great movement that passed different phases.
In addition, Jubo League is a well-disciplined youth organization. Jubo League is working relentlessly to bring about positive changes in youth politics. And it is promise-bound to build up a modern state capable of meeting the aspirations and hopes of present generation by way of positive politics.
The youth front has announced its 12-point charter of demands aimed at lasting emancipation and the welfare of the youth that include providing jobs for around three crore unemployed youths of the country. The youth wing perseveres to reach its desired target.
Jubo League, led by Deshrotono Sheikh Hasina, has played a significant role in the surge of movements in establishing and carrying out the principles of democracy.
Leaders and activists of Jubo League (JL), mobilized under the leadership of JL chairman Jahangeer Kabir Nanak and general secretary Mirza Azam, set vivid example of playing substantial role by joining hands to lead a popular movement against all sort of criminal activities and atrocities of the BNP-Jamaat alliance government.
The valiant self-sacrifice of Jubo League leader Nur Hossain being a "living poster of democratic movement" on November 10,
1987 and of Nurul Huda Babul, also a Jubo League leader, paving the way for establishment of democracy and defeating military autocracy marked the glorious chapter of the history of democracy.
Moreover, the nation will never forget another Jubo League leader Badar Uddin Bodu for sacrificing his life during the movement to establish caretaker government system under the able leadership of Sheikh Hasina.
Bangladesh Awami Jubo League is pledge-bound to make maximum sacrifice to realize the "Digital Bangladesh" dream of honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, daughter of peace. |
